PROVO
PROVO
Downtown Provo had one of the most stunning backdrops of any city we’ve gotten to explore. Spend some time experiencing the local offering, then head into the mountains for a scenic stay like no other. The beauty of the nature that sits outside of your window is almost indescribable. Take a look for yourself below, but even the photos don’t do it justice, so we guess you’ll just have to plan a trip! We visited during the winter months, which are perfect for the outdoor adventure you’re craving.
DAY 1
8 am | We couldn’t think of a better warm welcome to Provo than starting your day at Enlighten Bakery. With a bakehouse that starts humming before the sun comes up, and cinnamon rolls that will put a smile on anyone’s face, you can’t go wrong. The menu is extensive, so if gluten isn’t your bread & butter, you’re still covered!
43 E Center St, Provo, UT 84606
9:30 am | Arriving at Sundance Resort you feel like you’re driving into a movie set! One of the most gorgeous backdrops we’ve had the chance to rest our heads in on a trip. This outdoor fairytale was a dream to spend a few days in exploring. It’s kind of in it’s own little world, about 30 minutes from downtown Provo, but you really don’t need to leave for anything. There are plenty of food and drink options within the resort, and tall enough mountains to last you a lifetime of shredding! Pro Tip: PLEASE TAKE LESSONS BEFORE SKIING OR SNOWBOARDING!!! Pro Tip: If the white hills are not your calling, there are plenty of other activities around the resort. One of our favorites was sunrise yoga!

12:00 pm | Time for some grub. We definitely worked up an appetite on the slopes all day. Grab some food as you soak up more views at Bearclaw Cabin atop the rolling hills. We promise its worth the ride up, we’ve never experienced views quite like this before.
5:00 pm | Catch some dinner at The Foundry Grill, where you’ll find an interior decor married with a menu that pays homage to the frontier settlers, farmers and miners who settled the land. We got the “warm and fuzzies” as we took each bite of seasonal flavor prepared through cooking techniques centered around the open “Foundry” kitchen. Not in the mood to go out? Cozy up in your robe and slippers after a hot shower with some room service and a movie. Either way sounds like a perfect way to end the day to us.
9:00 pm | After we relaxed and refueled, we were (obviously) ready for a drink! Owl Bar had great cocktails for a night cap. This restored 1890’s bar was moved from Thermopolis, Wyoming to Sundance. The original Rosewood Bar was once frequented by Butch Cassidy’s Hole in the Wall Gang. *No photos are allowed inside of the bar.
DAY 2
9:00 am | Ivie Juice Bar is just what the doctor (and our stomaches!) ordered. This family-owned business focuses on health conscious and innovative smoothies, shakes, bowls and juices. Don’t let that trick you, just because they’re healthy doesn't mean the items aren’t as flavorful and colorful as you’d imagine. We each got different bowls and smoothies so we could try the options. We couldn’t pick our favorite so let us know yours!
45 North University Ave
10:30 am | Nothing wakes you up in the morning like an indoor rock-climbing session! We had almost too much fun making friends and climbing on walls at Quarry Climbing. With over 40 lead routes, 110 top rope routes and 110 boulder problems, every skill level will have something to hang onto. Kids are more than welcome!
2494 North University Parkway
12:30 pm | They may be one of the only restaurants in Provo with a full bar, but don’t be fooled by the alcohol alone, Black Sheep Cafe can definitely stand their own with their food menu. This Native American Southwest cuisine was one of our favorites during our stay- we still talk about the green chili sauce that was on those french fries! This joint is definitely a local staple, and we can see why. Pro Tip: Don’t sleep on the frybread.
19 N University Ave
1:30 pm | After lunch, you’ll definitely have a sweet tooth and you won’t know why. We know why. Rockwell Ice-cream is just next door and you can smell the warm cookie skillet coming out of the oven. We almost can’t even write this because we’re drooling on our keyboard thinking about it. Honestly this dessert was our most favorite sweet treat we’ve ever had on a trip. No matter the flavor of cold dairy you choose, Rockwell will rock your world. Our suggestion: go with your gut and get the warm cookie skillet with ice cream mixed with graham crackers on top. We’re already jealous of you right now.
43 N University Ave
Stick around town and shop the local boutiques. Some of our favorites were: Lou & Jacks Tiny Store, Floxglove Flowers & Gifts, Unhinged, and Pioneer Book!
7:00 pm | Communal is a farm to table restaurant that focuses on just that, community. We felt right at home as we pulled up a seat to a warm meal that you could tell was made with love. The group works with spending their time on building partnerships with local farmers, purveyors and artisans who share the same values as them. We loved watching locals come in with their families to dine as we watched the sunset behind the mountains.
9:00 pm | Downtown Provo doesn’t have much for a typical “night out” scene, however, we fell in love with Heart and Seoul. This restored original Provo saloon from the 1800's turned karaoke joint featuring private karaoke rooms and an open mic karaoke stage made for the start of a great last night in Provo.
52 W Center Street
DAY 3
8:00 am | Worth the early morning wake-up, Rugged Grounds had some of the best kombucha on-tap we’ve had. This cozy corner cafe has plenty of caffeinated options to get you ready for your journey home.
156 W 500 S
9:00 am | Saving the sweetest stop for last, make sure to pop by Provo Bakery for some trip treats. Order something custom created ahead, or stop in to see what’s fresh. We can smell those flakey pastries from here….
